Superintendent's Message

About our Superintendent

Dear Tahoka Staff, Parents and Community,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year.  I am the new superintendent, Alan Umholtz. I am honored to be joining a school system and community that share a deep commitment to the success of EVERY child.

As we begin another school year, I look forward to you being a part of our Tahoka family and hope you become involved in our schools and community. The Tahoka School district is known for its incredible staff with their commitment to excellence. To those new to our school community, we are looking forward to your contributions to our students and team. We are so fortunate to have a school district for which we can be proud of with students, staff, families and the community coming together to support our mission to inspire excellence. This is the reason why I chose to be a member of your team.

I would like to take a minute and update the administrative change for the new school year. I am very excited about being the leader of Tahoka ISD. My wife and I will live in the district. We have two girls Hillary (24) & Blair (21), both of my daughters are early childhood teachers.

I am here to ensure that our staff and students have exceptional educational experiences in our student centered school district. I am always available to you; I have an open door policy. My motto has been" Every Student, Every Day, Whatever it Takes!"

This year, as every year, we commit ourselves to providing the very best educational experience possible. The state budget will be a struggle; however, our focus is on continuous improvement and communication. We will update you often through our newsletters, social media, calling service and text messages, as well as in school and community meetings. Please take a moment to visit our district and school websites. I look forward to connecting with you personally and can be reached directly at  Have a meaningful and productive 2017-2018 school year. I will see you in our schools!
